The most important part of any dealings is the motivation that drives the dealing. In the case of the bed sellers, our preliminary checks indicate that the need for more money is what fuels the passion for the continuous perpetration of this illegal activity. Bright Boakye Addo is an officer of the SRC who serves the SRC as a representative on a University Committee our checks indicate. He is a student of Legon Hall and is the Keeper of all the finances of the cabal.
After engaging the first two members of the cabal in our quest to get a bed, the last person were introduced to before making any monetary commitment to the scam was Bright Boakye Addo. The money which is a confirmation of my willingness to trade was to be paid to the said Bright Baokye Addo for confirmation. An amount GHC 2000 was paid outrightly to Bright Boakye Addo on an MTN number 0240025322 bearing the same name, Bright Boakye Addo.
It was later confirmed from Bright that payment had been made for the commencement of my application processes. However, 6months after paying GHC 2000 to Bright Boakye Addo, Adrianna Afriyie Bawuah and Henry Ackon, they haven’t able to secure the bed as promised neither has our money been returned.
Over the years, we’ve heard complains from students and parents on scammers who dupe them thousands of cedis under the guise of securing accommodation for them. Several notices from the University and the SRC have been issued warning students who engage in such acts to desist from them. However, since no action has been taken from the University and the SRC so far, these scammers are emboldened to dupe more people every year.
We call on the SRC and the University Management to take serious actions on the menace of bed selling and illegal purchases acquisition of beds whiles they take steps to address the accommodation crises in the University.
